Liebestod Pale

This hand painted woodcut, called Liebestod, has been made to celebrate Glyndebourne’s 2021 magical revival of Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde. In this image of the unending sky Tom has tried to find a pictorial equivalent of what Isolde sings about in her Liebestod aria at the end of the opera - i.e her and Tristan’s corporeal connection to the far reaches of the universe as stardust.
