Inspired by the book Walden by Henry David Thoreau, this etching celebrates the author's two year sojourn in a hand built shack near Concord, Massachusetts. As one of the first great treatises of solitary living and self sufficiency after Confucius and Basho, the image presents me optimistically abandoning sophisticated living and a life 'of quiet desperation' by getting back to nature. – TH
