My sister in her voluminous dress, as big as a sail, becomes Madonna like, lovingly watering her plants at all hours (depending on the colour of each impression). The simple figure and ground relationship stretches the composition out like an Indian miniature. Space is flattened out and colour is used expressionistically to convey this action of love in watering a plant. – TH
